A&M Scotland Summer Camp 2015
The 13th July to the 24th July saw A&M Scotland running its ‘Summer Camp’ at Petershill Leisure Centre in Springburn as well as a smaller camp in Kingsway.
The camp saw over 250 young people attend completely free activities, with an average of 130 young people attending Petershill every day with an average of 20 young people at Kingsway. The camp was even attended by Anne McLaughlin MP who came along to visit.
The camps were focused around providing free sport for the young people attending, with football and dance being the main activities but badminton, tennis and other sports were also on offer. There was also free arts and crafts activities at the camp which were provided by New Rhythms for Glasgow. As well as free sport, A&M Scotland also provided a free lunch for all of the young people that attended.
A&M Scotland would like to extend a massive thank you to all of the funders who made this event possible; Comic Relief, the Hugh Fraser Foundation and Clyde Cash for Kids.
With cost often being a barrier to young people participating in sport and physical activity, A&M are continuing to provide free sport throughout the City of Glasgow to ensure that young people can remain active. Following on from the success of the Easter Camp and Summer Camps this year, A&M are looking to run another camp during the October holiday so that young people are able to participate in sport.
