A&M Legends Weekend
Friday 19th June was our very first high weekend of raising funds to help young people from deprived areas throughout the city of Glasgow and beyond. The start of what was a highly successful weekend of fundraising for A&M Scotland.
The Friday saw football legends including Peter Reid, Frank McAvennie, Colin Hendry and Bobby Petta come together with our amazing supporters for a round of golf at the stunning Mar Hall course, followed by a lunch and auction, hosted by Mark Guidi and Suzie McGuire. The afternoon was rounded off by the comedian John Gahagan. The event was covered by STV Glasgow and their short article can be viewed at the bottom of the page.
Following the successful day at Mar Hall, A&M hosted their first ‘Legends Game’ which was held at the Excelsior Stadium, home of Airdrieonians. The game saw yet more footballing legends from over the years, join forces to play a game in front of an appreciative crowd. Scotland won 5-4 on the day but the only real winners were A&M Scotland who managed to raise funds to help continue and expand the work that we are already doing.
CEO Robert McHarg said ‘this was a fantastic weekend for us and a highly successful first venture in to organising and running our own events. A massive thank you to all of my staff team who made it possible and to everyone who supported us over the two days, from supporters at the game, to the guys at the golf, to the football legends who came to play and anyone else that helped us. I’m humbled at the amount of support that we received, it wouldn’t be possible without you guys!’
A&M are planning organising other events so if you would like to get involved then visit our Events Page.
