June is here, the streets are warm and the sun seems to hit Glasgow more often than not. We can officially say that SUMMER IS HERE!

You might already be aware of some of the things that are happening this summer at Achieve More! but just in case you’ve missed some of our posts, here is an overview of all the projects and fun activities coming up on the next three months. Two residentials, our Summer Camp and a chance to gain employment!

This year we will be going to Dounans Outdoor Centre at the heart of Loch Lomand. We have 10 spaces for young people 16-24 years old to attend the residential taking place on 22nd-24th June 2018.

As a residential goer you will take part in outdoor activities like kayaking, water assault course and rock climbing. If you are interested, please fill in this application, we’ll be in touch by the 11th June https://goo.gl/tLKCYg

We also have our first German Summer camp. Say Whaaaaat!

Where: Bornheim-Walberberg, Germany

We have some even more exciting news, It has been a while in the making but we have an exclusive program running this Summer for 12 young people who are unemployed, ages 17+, starting on the 2nd July.  The program is called Aim Hi! and will run for 6 weeks, 4 days a week. The program will take place in Hampden Park, Hotels across Glasgow and the European Championships. You will learn how to become a world class barista, a world class cocktail maker, a world class chef plus visit some exclusive and new hotels and be treated to the VIP treatment. PLUS you will serve people during the European Championships…I say!  All participants will be given work experience at the end of the project and we guarantee 100% will get interviews*   So if you want to do something different this Summer, gain qualifications, learn about the exciting hospitality world and get a job at the end, then this is for you!

We will be holding an information evening in the VIP box at Hampden Park for anyone interested:

OUR SUMMER CAMP IS ALSO BACK! An incredible three weeks were the young ones of the house will dance, play football, cricket and many other games. Our holiday programme runs from 10am to 3pm for kids and young adults 5+ years old. Not only that, but thanks to our wonderful partner Launch, every day our young people will be provided with warm food, snacks, water and fruit. All the specific details can be found in the image bellow.

And at the end of the summer we will Zip Slide across the Clyde on Saturday 15th. Due to this being a very busy event with many charities taking part to raise funds, We only have limited spaces available. This event does not cost the participant to take part but to ensure all costs are covered for the charity we ask that the minimum sponsorship for this is £200 per participant.

The requirements to take part are:

• At least 16 years of age.
• Maximum of 17 stone in weight.

Not only is this a great way to raise funds for Achieve More Scotland to improve Glasgow’s young people’s chances and help Achieve More improve and extend their services in deprived area’s it is also a very enjoyable event to take part in. The height of the crane is roughly 130ft-170ft and the distance travelled is approximately 750ft-1400ft. So why not go soaring across the Clyde taking in the views while raising money for a very worthy cause? We promise you will not be disappointed.
