A week to remember
The Rezzy Achieve more Scotland carried out their largest residential yet, this involved 21 young people being given the opportunity to take part in outward bound activities such as ; abseiling , hill walking , canoeing , team building activities and camping. What a Friday it was finding out I was the winner of The Scottish Government’s Social Innovation Competition delivered by Firstport and awarded The Young Social innovator award 2018! Come morning or night what’s the first and last thing you do? I can bet 9/10 said check your phone. Whether it’s to switch the alarm off, check your calendar or have a quick snoop through Facebook. We don’t think much of it, gradually over time we have used our phones for more and more tasks each day meaning this addictive behaviour has gone unnoticed. Save our Youth Services
In recent years it has been made clear that many of the youth services offered to young people all over the UK have had to face major financial cuts leaving thousands of young people with nowhere to turn. An estimated £387m is believed to have been cut from youth services and it doesn't look like things are getting any better. Holiday Programmes
During 2015 we have delivered another round of successful holiday programmes at Petershill Leisure Centre and Kingsway Multi Use Games Area. We catered for an average of 150 young people each day at Easter, Summer and October and thanks to Bauer Radio Cash For Kids every participant was fed each day. A&M Scotland Summer Camp 2015
The 13th July to the 24th July saw A&M Scotland running its 'Summer Camp' at Petershill Leisure Centre in Springburn as well as a smaller camp in Kingsway. The camp saw over 250 young people attend completely free activities, with an average of 130 young people attending Petershill every day with an average of 20 young people at Kingsway. Street Games National 5th Event
Friday 26th June saw A&M Scotland host the Street Games National Pool 5th event at Petershill Leisure Centre in Springburn. The event was a qualifier to the StreetGames National 5s Finals which were held at St. Georges park last year, sparking a huge interest in the qualifiers, with teams desperate to reach the final. This year saw another improvement on last years event and saw roughly 250 young people attend with 30+ teams involved in the tournament. Unfortunately there could only
